Kevin and daughter Lilly fistbump at the finish line
We lost a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a friend, an inspiration the summer of 2019 to a lung cancer caused by the very rare EGFR exon 20 insertion mutation. Kevin had never smoked and had no risk factors for lung cancer yet was diagnosed in April of 2016. He fought his cancer for 3+ years with many by his side. It was during this time that Kevin adopted the fistbump greeting.
One of Kevin's strongest supporters was ICAN®-International Cancer Advocacy Network, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to helping all late-stage cancer patients navigate the complicated journey of treatments and clinical trials. It was under ICAN's umbrella that Kevin and I founded the Exon 20 Group to pull together experts from across the world to tackle this very rare cancer.
The Fistbump Fundraiser was created to support ICAN so that they can continue to provide direct patient navigation and advocacy services to cancer patients and their families.
